Deb R. Brimer Writer Profile

Deb R. Brimer is a veteran writer with more than 37 years of magazine feature articles, newspaper columns and publication development/management to her credit. With a diverse portfolio – ranging from celebrity interviews and technology articles to speechwriting, healthcare features and a white paper on manufacturing – Brimer was recognized in 2000 for her versatile business writing when the Biographical Institute in Cambridge, England named her one of the Outstanding Writers of the 20th Century.

A published writer at age 20 and business owner at 23, Brimer attributes her success to effectively mixing her writing craft with business expertise. This not only gives her an edge for covering multiple industries and disciplines; it is her pipeline to the soul of her interview subjects.

Throughout her career, Brimer’s interviews and articles have run the gamut in the business arena – from legendary entertainers to global executives. In the music industry, Brimer’s interviews range from Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette and George Jones to Anne Murray, Charley Pride and Conway Twitty.

On the global business front, Brimer is credited with personal interviews and articles on a number of prestigious individuals:

  • Tom Hicks, owner of the Texas Rangers MLB team and Dallas Stars NHL team

  • Jack Kilby, inventor of the integrated circuit (computer chip)

  • Jerry Junkins, the late CEO of Texas Instruments

  • Raymond Nasher, NorthPark Center founder and art aficionado

  • John Q. Hammons, hotel czar

  • Krish Prabhu, former president and CEO of Alcatel Americas

  • Akira Tokimasa, president of Fujitsu Network Communications

  • And countless others.

She served in the same capacity for Metroplex Technology Magazine (formerly Telecom Corridor Business Magazine and Richardson Magazine) from 1986 to 2006 and Mesquite Magazine from 1992 to 2001. Brimer also provides freelance writing services to a number of other clients including the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas and the Boston-based Pagoda Group.

Brimer was the chief business writer for Pagoda’s Greater Dallas Visions, a coffee table book about the Dallas area that made its bookstore debut in late 2005.

Aside from writing assignments, Brimer develops successful branding campaigns for Brimer-Lane Communications. Her most distinguished branding works include:

  • Deep in the Smart of Texas for the Jonsson School at UTD
  • Keeping the Tech in Texas for a consortium of Texas universities
  • Linking the World to the 21st Century for the Telecom Corridor area
  • Mesquite . . . Sweet for the Mesquite Convention and Visitors Bureau

But Brimer’s creativity extends beyond the pen. She’s also an award-winning photographer as well as art director on most Brimer-Lane projects.

As a community leader, Brimer is a Rotarian, a Paul Harris Fellow and was one of the original mentors in the Kids Writing Connection – a project partnered by the Press Club of Dallas and Dallas Independent School District. For three years, she mentored students in the art of writing and served as Press Club Coordinator. In 1999, Brimer brought the “Kids Writing for Kids” concept to the Mesquite (Texas) schools by founding the Young Authors Network at Motley Elementary.
